Aussie! Aussie! Aussie! Oia! Oia! Oia!

Sunny skies, lovely breakfast. Hordes of people. An American couple from our bus joined us. George was telling us of his final moments with his mother before she passed. Stories were shared and before we knew it, all 4 of us were very emotional and teary. What a breakfast that was!
Off we drove to Akrotiri in the south of Santorini. It was like visiting a mini Pompeii, it was an ancient settlements  in the Bronze age of an advanced  & prosperous  people who were suddenly  buried in volcanic Ash. They built 5 storey buildings with indoor toilets, guttering, a water system and even sanitation in the toilets. Truly amazing. Only a very small portion of the town has ever been unearthed.

We were treated to a wine tasting near Oia. Some beautiful  wines.

Then we drove up to Oia where there are many stunning pictures taken of sunsets in Oia where the domed buildings take on a golden glow. Its quite magical. We wandered the streets with our guide through narrow alleyways paved in cobblestones and festooned with boganvillias. Very busy but boy when the cruise shops roll in, so do the heaving crowds. Anne & l partake in daily creamy cones of ice-cream....delicious!
Glorious weather, hot. Anne went for a swim.
