Negotiating the streets of Taomina
The alleyways are superb, narrow but packed with interesting doors, plants, tiles, door knockers and there are steps/stairs everywhere! Its built on a mountain. You do need to be very careful as motorcycles & vans drive past very fast. I have nearly lost a body part as l press what l can into a wall as they drive by. Drivers give me a cheeky grin and move on! During the night, motorcycles literally screamed past our open windows at neck breaking speed!
We made our way to the majestic ancient Greek theatre against a backdrop of the bluest of oceans! There was an open air concert there last night so crew were dismantling the stage. It's simply magnificent.
Anne & l then walked through the alleyways to the public gardens created by Florence Trevelyan-Cacciola 150 years ago. Stunning. She too fell under the charm of Taomina and built follys and incredible gardens.
