The Last Supper

Today began with our final breakfast with our tour guide and group. Its been a delightfully fun group of people, singles & couples. We have all got on famously. Many were moving onto other countries and cities.
Then Anne & l took a walk of several blocks to get on the Hop On & Off Bus to Monreale. The city was buzzing with police and high profile dignitaries, namely the President of Italy, the Kings of Spain and Portugal. Most tourist places in Palermo were closed for the day for security reasons. Anyway we were off on our bus in full sun. We were very close to Monreale before being dropped and redirected.  We had found all the President's Men! And the Kings! They were at also at one of the  wonders of the Medieval world! We had to stand back & wait for all of them to vamoose in no smaller than 20 fancy cars! The cloister of the Monreale complex is superb. Hand carved columns, expertly done,  no 2 alike says Anne, columns tiled in gold mosaic ..wondrous. The mountainous town of Monreale is pretty, small & contained and revolves around the Cathedral. This wonder is truly magnificent . Words cannot describe it aptly. The highest ceiling l have ever seen , mosaics that need to be seen to be believed, paintings of biblical times that are extraordinary. The photos of the inside of the cathedral are those of Anne's. Hours later we were back on the bus and home to shower before going out to dinner around 7:30.:
