Day 11: Petrovac Montenegro to Dubrovnik Croatia Thurs

A laboured road trip thru the border  where we had to show our passport one by one, standing 10 feet away! Plus an accident but we finally made it to Croatia Dubrovnik on the Adtiatic sea. Very hot, thunderstorms on the way. We were dropped off at the distinctive old town
( fortress) encircled by massive stone walls completed in 16th century. The streets are paved with limestone & marble wh8ch was exported to Italy. These streets & narrow alleyways are lined with shops & restaurants.
In 1991 there was conflict when the Yugoslavs attacked & bombed  the old town & fortress often referred  to as " the Pearl in the Adriactic." It was severely damaged by an earthquake in 1667 but they managed to preserve churches, monasteries, palaces & fountains.
Anne & l were eating lunch at a restaurant. The heavens opened up , thunder & lightning & a huge rainstorm.  It soon passed but it made the marble streets very slippery!
The old fortress has been used for many scenes from Game of Thrones.
