Day 17: Ljubljana- Lake Bled-Slovenia Wed
The hunchback is back.......
We travelled an hour past snow capped mountains to stunning Lake Bled & Bled castle. It makes a chocolate box picture. The castle is a medieval building built high on a precipice above the city of Bled overlooking the lake. It is believed to be the oldest Slovenian castle & dates back to 1004. On an island in the middle if the Lake is a baroque church dating from 17th century. There has always been a church there since 9th century. The Lake is an incredible bluish/green colour surrounded by lush scenery. A few of us walked a part of the way around the lake & then enjoyed coffee & cake , the famous Bled creme cake or vanilla slice! Divine!
